Chinese language and culture has a very long history. Over the past 5,000 years of Chinese civilization (中华文明/华夏文明), numerous aspects of Chinese culture have become deeply rooted in the Chinese lifestyle. Chinese Literature form one of those very important aspects of this ancient Chinese culture. If you interested in learning Chinese language and culture, you are supposed to know, for example, the Four Great Classical Novels (四大名著), such as the Journey to the West 《西游记》, one of these four classics.
